Coming to the End

Today is our last day, we are back in San Francisco. Last night we went to see the Sox play at Oakland. They won! We met up with a friend of mine from college and stayed in her apartment. Today we visit Alcatraz before heading to the Oakland airport. We had had a GREAT time.

Yesterday we visited Muir Woods and saw huge redwood trees. The road to get there was very steep and twisty; would have been great on a motorcycle. We'll have to come back again!

We will be glad to get back home and see our friends, family and cats......

Sonoma

We are now in Sonoma enjoying the third leg of our trip. It is HOT here today....111 degrees at 6 pm! Yikes! You can imagine why the pool has been one of our favorite spots. Today we had massages and visited a few more wineries, including one with amazing gardens and another where we toured under hill storage caves. It was 50 degrees in there which was quite refreshing. We are currently hiding out in a coffee shop with AC and Wi-Fi. Tomorrow we go on a canoe adventure with Burke's Canoe, an outfit about an hour north of Sonoma. We are looking forward to paddling through the redwoods.

Having fun in California!

We arrived safely in San Francisco and spent a couple of days sight seeing. We walked across the Golden Gate Bridge and took a cable car ride. We are now in Napa enjoying a very cozy B&B where the breakfasts are unbelievable! Yesterday we visted a couple of wineries, took part in a tasting at our B&B and had a fantastic Italian dinner. We met a couple from Vermont who got married the same day we did. Today, we have rented bicycles and will ride the Silverado Trail to more wineries.
